A special weather statement has been issued for St. Lawrence and Franklin counties in northern New York as heavy snow showers move into the area. Motorists traveling along NY-37 or US-11 should prepare for quick reductions in visibility and strong gusty winds through late Monday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, VT, snow showers were moving southeast at 35 mph and are expected to cause visibility of less than one mile. Winds may exceed 25 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles. Drivers should reduce speed, ensure headlights are on, and avoid unnecessary travel during low visibility periods.
The system will linger into early Monday, with additional impacts possible through midweek. Temperatures will remain in the upper 20s, with snow accumulation likely across higher elevations. Clearer skies are forecasted by Wednesday, offering a brief reprieve before more snow arrives late in the week.
Stay tuned for updates and exercise caution while on the road.
