Powerful Earthquake Struck Cuban Coast Hours After 7.8 Quake Hit Philippines – Open Jaw

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck off 104 kms off the coast of Mantua, Cuba, yesterday afternoon with early social media reports suggesting tremors were felt as far away as Miami and some regions of Belize.
Shaking was also felt across Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.
The German Research Center for Geosciences told Reuters news agency that the quake occurred at a depth of 10 km around 2:00 pm local time. There have been no reports of damage, and no tsunami warning was issued, however the United States Geological Survey said it’s the largest seismic event to hit the region in the last 100 years.
This comes only hours after a powerful 7.8‑magnitude earthquake hit near the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, resulting in dozens of deaths and tsunami warnings for several nearby nations. Temors were felt as far away as the Island of Sulawesi, in Indonesia.
