KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Ministry of Tourism has confirmed that Jamaica’s tourism sector is actively in talks to coordinate logistics with local and international stakeholders to minimise disruption following Spirit Airlines’ announcement on Saturday of an immediate wind-down of its operations.
The low-budget airline advised that all flights have been cancelled and that customer service operations are no longer available.
Affected passengers have been instructed not to go to airports, while refunds will be automatically processed for bookings made directly with the airline.
“Jamaica always prioritises the safety, comfort, and well-being of our visitors. In light of the Spirit Airlines situation, we are mobilising the necessary resources and coordinating logistics with our partners to ensure that affected travelers are supported and able to make alternative arrangements with minimal inconvenience,” said Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett.
Bartlett also expressed appreciation for the swift response from other airline partners, many of whom have already begun introducing additional capacity and flexible booking options to accommodate displaced passengers.
