Travelers are seeking sunshine this spring break.
Warm-weather destinations – particularly in Florida – claimed the top spots on AAA’s list of this year’s most popular domestic spring break destinations. “The Sunshine State dominates this time of year as travelers seek a reliably warm climate to spend time at the beach or enjoy theme parks,” the membership organization said in a news release.
The rankings, which include both U.S. and international destinations, were based on AAA Travel booking data. Along with Florida, the West Coast, Europe and the Caribbean all made the lists.

Travelers may pay more to get to those places, though. AAA said that airfares to “domestic hot spots are 2% more expensive over last year, averaging about $815 for roundtrip tickets,” according to the release.

By contrast, flying to the most popular of those destinations is “slightly cheaper” than in 2025, according to AAA, with round-trip fares averaging roughly $1,300.
Vacations at sea are in demand, too. “Many families book cruises over Spring Break to get the most out of the week, with Caribbean itineraries departing from Florida, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas being the most popular,” the release said.
AAA expects 21.7 million U.S. travelers to take cruises this year.
