Traveling to and from L.A. for the summer matches will be easier and cheaper thanks to additional Pacific Surfliner service.
California is gearing up to host the world’s biggest sporting event this summer, with thousands of fans expected to flock to the region. To help make travel between matches easier, Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner is adding extra train frequencies across key cities.
The Los Angeles–San Diego–San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency, which manages the Pacific Surfliner, has partnered with the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board to help visitors and locals travel to matches and fan events with ease. The goal is simple: reduce traffic stress and offer a scenic, convenient way to explore SoCal during the World Cup.
As part of this initiative, the Pacific Surfliner is introducing an additional daily round trip between San Diego and Los Angeles, giving travelers more flexibility when planning their match-day trips. The service connects key coastal destinations, including Orange County, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo.
The trains arrive directly in DTLA, where passengers can easily connect to local transit, rideshares, and dedicated event shuttles to reach stadiums and fan zones. One of the major fan celebrations will take place at Union Station from June 25 to June 28.
To make travel even more appealing, Amtrak is offering 20% off Pacific Surfliner fares during the tournament period. The discount is valid for travel from May 1 through July 15, 2026, giving fans plenty of time to plan their trips.
Most Pacific Surfliner trains feature spacious seating, free Wi-Fi, power outlets, and a café car, turning the journey into part of the experience. For soccer fans heading to L.A. this summer, the combination of added service and discounted fares makes taking the train a winning choice.
