The agency said that Dengue – a mosquito-borne viral infection – is having a higher-than-expected number of cases in certain countries.
These countries include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Colombia, Cook Islands, Cuba, Guyana, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, New Caledonia, Pakistan, Samoa, Sudan, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
Dengue is spread by mosquito bites and outbreaks typically unfold every two to five years.
A level one warning has been issued, meaning adventurous travelers can still go to the country, but should take precautions.

Those traveling to the at-risk areas “should prevent mosquito bites by using an EPA-registered insect repellent, wearing long-sleeved shirts and long pants when outdoors, and sleeping in an air-conditioned room or room with window screens,” according to the CDC.
The sickness can take up to two weeks to develop, and usually only lasts around a week.
Less severe symptoms are fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, rash and joint pain.
Many of those infected may even be asymptomatic.
