PORTLAND, Ore. — Rocks fell on southbound Interstate 5 in Portland near the South Corbett Avenue overpass, causing a traffic backup and delays during the Monday evening commute. All lanes of I-5 southbound have reopened.
The rockfall impacted the middle and right lanes, along with the shoulder. Netting on the slope typically keeps rocks from reaching the lanes, but the heavy rainfall may have been a factor in the rockfall, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.
Drivers are asked to be extra careful and watch out for crews working to remove rock in the area.
