The year is nearly over, but it’s not too late to fit in one last vacation.
Travelers hoping to ring in 2026 with a trip can still find deals on flights to domestic and international destinations, from Las Vegas to Cancun and St. Lucia.
Four of the 10 most popular U.S. lodging markets for New Year’s are in Florida alone, according to Expedia data: Miami, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale and Key West. “Despite the beach trend, New York, Paris, and London remain top picks for travelers chasing big-city countdowns and fireworks,” the company added in an email.
Here’s what to know about the most affordable destinations for New Year’s.
Hopper said there are affordable round-trip fares from a range of U.S. cities between Dec. 29 and Jan. 7:
Expedia’s list of destinations under $500, meanwhile, included Atlantic City; Fort Lauderdale; Orlando; Atlanta; and New Orleans for domestic travel between Dec. 27 and Jan. 4. For international trips, Guadalajara, Mexico; St. Lucia; Cusco, Peru; Stockholm; and São Paulo, Brazil all made the list.
Expedia lodging data between Dec. 29 and Jan. 7 showed that New York, Las Vegas, Miami, Orlando and Los Angeles were among the most popular U.S. destinations. Internationally, the list included Cancun, Punta Cana, Tokyo, Paris and London.
Hopper similarly found that “warm-weather destinations like Florida, Mexico, and the Caribbean are topping the list for New Year’s travel this year.”
Expedia data also showed affordable accommodations in a variety of destinations. “U.S. options under $150 per night include Pensacola, Destin, Tallahassee (plus Moab, Tulsa, Omaha); international under $150 per night includes Cebu, Phuket/Pattaya, Lima, (and) Santo Domingo,” the company said.
On r/Travel, one of the biggest travel communities on Reddit with over 2.1 million subscribers, people shared the best destinations where they’ve celebrated New Year’s.
“People are no longer just accepting curated recommendations from influencers or algorithmic suggestions, but they’re pooling collective intelligence from other savvy travelers and locals around the world,” Matt Klein, Reddit’s head of foresight, told USA TODAY in a statement.
In the November post, Reddit users reminisced about watching the famous fireworks display over Sydney Harbor and from Taiwan’s tallest skyscraper Taipei 101, while others saw fireworks from the beach on Kauai. Some dove into cultural traditions like eating 12 grapes under the table in Mexico, wearing white in the Copacabana neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro, and celebrating Hogmanay in Scotland.
Other memorable destinations included Auckland, Cape Town, Toronto and Abu Dhabi.
