Maine Turnpike crash involving tractor-trailer causes major delays on I-95 south in York – WMTW

A crash on the Maine Turnpike caused major delays during Monday evening’s commute on the southbound side of Interstate 95 in York.
A spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety confirmed to Maine’s Total Coverage that the crash at mile 5 involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle.
In a traffic alert issued at 3:20 p.m., the Maine Turnpike Authority warned drivers about the crash and announced less than 15 minutes later that the center and right lanes were blocked.
State police also warned drivers to expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
The MTA announced at 4:14 p.m. that the Exit 7 southbound on-ramp was also closed to traffic and there were major delays in the area.
At 5:42 p.m., the MTA said the center lane at mile 5 had been reopened to traffic. The Exit 7 on-ramp was then reopened at about 5:55 p.m.
The MTA lifted its travel alert about the crash shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Turnpike officials and state police have not shared additional details about the crash.
