Reese Witherspoon shares Nashville favorites for first-time visitors – The Tennessean

Reese Witherspoon is letting fans in on her best travel tips and go-to places in Nashville — a city she calls home.
The Academy Award-winning actress opened up about all her travel tips and tricks during an interview with “Travel + Leisure.” While explaining some of her favorite places, she shared recommendations to first-time visitors, which of course included some suggestions in Music City’s downtown area.
“I would recommend starting at the Ryman, an old church which is the original Grand Ole Opry and is just beautiful,” she told the outlet as she recommended visitors to check out a tour or concert.
She says no trip to Nashville is complete without soaking up the energy on Lower Broadway and visiting some of the renowned honky-tonks. Her favorites include, Garth Brooks’ Friends in Low Places, which she calls “so fun” and Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa. In her own words, it’s “very girly themed, so it’s really good for a bachelorette party.”
Witherspoon also shared some of her other favorites, including her favorite filming location (Africa and India) and her favorite family vacation destination (the Caribbean).
Additionally, she offered some personal traveling tips including how she beats jet lag by staying hydrated and adjusting to the local time zone as quickly as possible.
“On the plane, I make sure to drink two bottles of water with vitamin C and electrolytes. Then I try getting on the time zone of my destination as soon as possible. I set my watch at the new time. If I arrive in the morning, I try to walk outside. Getting fresh air and sunlight really helps,” she said.
Witherspoon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. However, Witherspoon spent childhood and teenage years in Nashville after moving here at age four.
