The NYSDOT said all restrictions on empty trucks and trailers in Western New York will be lifted at midnight. The Skyway will also reopen at midnight.

It was a snow-covered Thanksgiving across the Southtowns and Southern Tier, with more still on the way for some areas. 7 News’ Derek Heid spent the day in Springville. You can watch his report below and read more here.
Thursday, November 27, 1 p.m. update
National Grid said its field of more than 2,350 workers continues to battle high winds as they restore power and assess damage to customers impacted late Wednesday into Thursday. According to a spokesperson, as of 11 a.m., the company has restored service to 45,000 of the more than 49,300 customers impacted by the storm.
Thursday, November 27, 11 a.m. update
Lake effect snow impacted northern areas of Western New York overnight Wednesday into Thursday.
The lake effect band has settled south of Buffalo and there will be several inches of accumulation from the Boston Hills to the Chautauqua Ridge. The winds will also be strong and will create hazardous travel conditions with blowing and drifting snow.

Wednesday, November 26, 6:30 p.m. update
Both City of Buffalo and Erie County leaders say they’re ready for the snowstorm. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz was joined by top leadership, including the sheriff, emergency services and Department of Public Works, at a new, state-of-the-art highway garage in Lancaster on Wednesday. Wednesday, November 26, 5 p.m. update
The City of Buffalo announced that the Skyway is closed due to high winds creating hazardous travel. Officials said the closure is being implemented out of an abundance of caution and in coordination with state and local partners. The closure will be in place until further notice.
The New York State Department of Transportation announced that Route 5 is closed in both directions from I-190 to State Route 179 (Milestrip) until further notice, due to high winds.
In addition, the NYSDOT said that empty trucks and trailers are banned from the New York State Thruway (I-90) in both directions from Exit 53 (Buffalo — I-190) to the Pennsylvania state line.
The NYSDOT will also be restricting empty trucks and trailers on the following roadways until further notice:
