CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Airports around the country are being impacted by the government shutdown, and while Buffalo Niagara International Airport is not on the list of airports directly impacted, people catching connecting flights are.

2 On Your Side spent Monday afternoon and early evening at the airport to see how things are going for passengers.
“I wouldn’t say there wasn’t a significant impact, but any cancellation to someone who is trying to get on a flight, that is a big impact for them, right? So because there are going to be cancellations, this is something that we know. We just want to make sure that travelers are prepared, do their best coming early, some of those tried and true things that you normally do,” said Kelly Khatib, a spokesperson from the NFTA.
It helps that this is not one of the airports directly impacted by the flight reductions. The TSA line has been moving quickly. The longest you should have to wait is 15 minutes.
“We are very lucky. Our TSA workers have been working tirelessly to ensure that our operations are running smoothly. We have always had our TSA workers working extremely fast even in, just on a regular day. We are very much known for having our lines run fast,” said Khatib.

They are suggesting that when you come back to Buffalo if you’re coming from an impacted airport get there three hours before your flight.
