Blackwall Tunnel LIVE: Major route closed and tube lines down as London hit by travel chaos – The Mirror

The London commute was plunged into chaos this morning following a Blackwall Tunnel closure and delays on three underground lines at the height of rush hour.
Commuters on the Metropolitan line and Piccadilly lines were facing major delays while faulty CCTV cameras in four London tunnels, including Blackwall, caused long tailbacks.
The other tunnels affected were Rotherhithe, Hanger Lane, and Upper Thames Street. Blackwall Tunnel is set to remain closed until 10am.
Travellers reported "having horror journeys" into work and not moving for 20 minutes at a time.

The Rotherhithe Tunnel has now reopened but delays remain on The Highway, approaching Tower Bridge. There are also queues at the Woolwich Ferry, which is back to a two boat service.
The Piccadilly line has now re-opned after it was suspended between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge.
The Metropolitan line remains part-closed between Baker Street and Aldgate due to a track fault at Baker Street.
Commuters have reported being stuck in traffic for as long as two and a half hours after four major tunnels closed due to a technical fault with its CCTV cameras.
One said: "I don't think nobody is getting their parcels today […] Hanger Lane so ram I can’t even leave the depot."

There is currently no Metropolitan line service between Baker Street and Aldgate due to a track fault at Baker Street. Passengers are being advised to use the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines to complete their journeys.
The Piccadilly line is also suspended between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge until midday to prevent damage to train wheels caused by expected significant leaf fall. TfL said: "Please use the Metropolitan line to complete your journey. GOOD SERVICE on the rest of the line."
Rotherhithe tunnel is expected to stay closed until 3pm, according to Google traffic maps. Heavy traffic is being reported in the area.
There are currently delays to buses from Greenwich to Avery Hill due to heavy congestion in the area following an earlier Blackwall Tunnel closure.
Commuters are being advised to check this bus tracker for live departure times.
The Elizabeth line is back up and running with a full service resumed on the line.
Delays are contuining on the Metropolitan line and Piccadilly line.
A spokesperson for TfL said: "Rotherhithe Tunnel, Upper Thames Street Tunnel and Hanger Lane Tunnel are currently closed due to an issue with the tunnel CCTV, which is vital for the safe operation of the tunnels.
"We have engineers urgently investigating the issue and are working hard to reopen the tunnels, with Blackwall Tunnel and Limehouse Link Tunnel having recently reopened.
"Drivers are advised to use alternative river crossings and to check before they travel.''

The Blackwall Tunnel closure has sparked traffic in surrounding roads, including congestion to the A2 – which is seeing queues from Kidbrooke across Blackheath on Trafalgar Road into Greenwich, as well as the Lower Lea Crossing from Silvertown.
Blackwall Tunnel is closed northbound from Greenwich to Poplar and will remain closed until 10am, according to traffic maps.
