MSP Airport Offers Helpful Thanksgiving Travel Tips – Duluth Country Radio

November and December are huge months for travel. Many of us have to take a flight somewhere to see loved ones rather than make the short drive to celebrate the holiday season.
I am lucky enough that my family lives in Minnesota for the most part so I don't have to hop on a plane to get to them – but I know this isn't the case for most people.
More than anything, Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel times of the year, if not the busiest. With that said, many Duluthians head down to the Twin Cities to catch a flight out of the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for the holiday.
Now, staff are offering some tips for those planning to do just that and if you fall into this category, you'll definitely want to hear these tips.
In an email blast sent out on Monday (November 3rd), MSP Airport staff offered some tips and tricks to those that will be passing through or taking a flight out of the airport. According to their estimate, about 260,000 travelers are expected during the week of Thanksgiving.
They are also predicting the busiest travel days to be the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving (November 26th) and that Sunday (November 30th). If possible, avoid flying out or in during those days.
Airport staff recommend traveling on Thanksgiving itself of the following Saturday, as both are expected to be lighter travel days. They also suggest pre-booking your parking so you not only save money but secure your spot. There's nothing worse than scrambling for a spot at the airport when you're already running late.
Last but not least, airport staff recommend booking a spot with MSP Reserve, which can help you cut time in the security line. And of course, you can't forget the classic rule: arrive two hours early!
I always arrive at least two hours early and not a second later. Sometimes I get there even earlier. There's nothing more stressful than rushing through an airport!
