London travel news LIVE: M25 closed with major delays after lorry overturns in crash – London Evening Standard

Motorists are experiencing major delays after a lorry overturned on the M25, leading to a road closure.
The anti-clockwise stretch of the M25 in Surrey, between Junction 10 (Cobham) and Junction 9 (Leatherhead), remains closed following the incident.
Emergency services, including Surrey Ambulance Service, were called to the scene and complex recovery of the overturned lorry is ongoing.
Drivers are being warned to expect significant delays.
National Highways have advised motorists to plan their journeys carefully and allow extra travel time while the closure is in place.

It appears there is still no clear timetable for the reopening of the M25.
The recent estimatefrom National Highways was that the motorway will not get back to normal until between 7.30pm and 7.45pm.
Recovery work is ongoing and delays remain significant.
Traffic monitoring site Inrix has given its latest update: “Severe delays due to earlier overturned lorry on M25 anticlockwise from J10 A3 (Wisley Interchange) to J9 A243 (Leatherhead). Congestion to J12 (M3 interchange), with delays through Oxshott, Byfleet, Tolworth and Chessington.”
The M25 in Surrey remains closed anti-clockwise between J10 (Cobham) and J9 (Leatherhead) due to the lorry crash.
Delays of up to an hour are still reported by National Highways.
There are still eight miles of congestion to J11 (Chertsey).
National Highways predicts that traffic conditions will return to normal between 5:30pm and 5:45pm, following a serious incident in which a lorry overturned on the motorway.
National Highways is urging drivers to plan their journeys in advance if they need to use the M25 today, following the crash that caused a lorry to overturn.
The statement said: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey. Further information is available from National Highways by visiting our www.trafficengland.com website and travel apps, or via our regional twitter feed. Our 24/7 contact centre team is also available to provide up to the minute information on 0300 123 5000.”
South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “SECAmb was called at approx 10:40am this morning (30/10/25) to reports of an RTC on the M25 between junctions 10 and 9, near to Cobham. Crews assessed and treated two male drivers at the scene.”
National Highways are predicting delays of up to an hour between J11 and J10.
Drivers have been advised to take the following route:

Engineering work is taking place at various locations on the East Midlands Railway network, closing some lines overnight until Saturday morning.
