London travel news LIVE: Heavy congestion on the M25 after major crash involving two lorries – London Evening Standard

The M25 is experiencing heavy delays at the Essex border this morning due to a serious collision, with an air ambulance currently on site.
Traffic on the Essex-bound carriageway is currently halted. Lanes 1 and 2 past the scene and the entry slip road at J25 remain closed for recovery.
The incident has caused severe delays, with congestion extending up to five miles. Drivers are experiencing delays of around two hours, and the condition of those involved in the crash remains unknown.

A National Highways spokesperson said that there are about nine miles of traffic congestion ahead, leading to delays of up to an hour.
The section of road between Waltham Cross and Waltham Abbey, which has been closed for several hours, is now undergoing resurfacing.
Lane one is still closed, causing delays of up to two extra hours for drivers.
No service between Baker Street and Aldgate and severe delays on the rest of the line due to a points failure at Baker Street.
Tickets are being accepted on Lioness line, Chiltern Railways, Thameslink and London buses.
The Circle line is now providing a good service.
National Highways has warned motorists to expect delays of up to two hours near the scene of a serious incident between Waltham Cross and Waltham Abbey.
The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that the two people injured in this morning’s lorry collision were men.
A spokesperson said: “Firefighters were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the M25, between junctions 25 and 26.
“The collision involved two lorries and crews carried out operations to make the scene safe. Two men were treated on scene by paramedics and removed to hospital.
“The Brigade was first called about the incident at 0833, with firefighters from Enfield and Edmonton fire stations attending the scene. The incident was over for crews by 0942.”
National Highways says: “Lane 3 has reopened past the scene on the #M25 clockwise between J25 and J26 #HolmesdaleTunnel. Lanes 1 and 2 remain closed as resurfacing is required in lane 1. There are 6 miles congestion on approach causing over 60 min delays on approach.”
An earlier incident on the M25 this morning continues to cause significant delays on the clockwise carriageway.
With queues adding around 90 minutes to journey times, National Highways has advised motorists to allow extra time for travel.
National Highways says: “The #M25 clockwise has reopened between J25 & J26 #HolmesdaleTunnel following an earlier serious collision. Lanes 1, 2 and 3 past the scene and the entry slip road at J25 remain closed for recovery. There are over 2 hour delays on approach.”
The Bakerloo line is now facing minor delays instead of severe disruption.
