Dominica Is Getting a Second Nonstop Flight From New York — Just in Time for Winter
Home
If you haven’t been to Dominica, there’s something you need to know: it’s not really like anywhere else you’ve been in the Caribbean. There’s a wildness; a ruggedness; an air of adventure. There’s a reason, after all, it’s called the Nature Island. There’s this sneaking feeling that, wherever you go, Mother Nature is in charge.
In recent years, more travelers have begun to discover this spectacularly beautiful island, thanks in part to its first-ever international flights — first, on American Airlines out of Miami, then on United Airlines earlier this year out of Newark. And people are starting to see the many wonders of this lush, verdant, pristine place in the Eastern Caribbean.
Dominica has also quietly developed a luxury hotel offering that’s impressive, anchored by the the Secret Bay resort and the InterContinental Dominica — along with some lovely ultra-boutique properties like Pagua Bay.
There’s also another new concept developing on the island: all-inclusive, something that remains the fastest-growing sector in travel, particularly in the Caribbean.
It’s something that first began on the island with the Fort Young hotel (which has a lovely “island-included” program”) in the south of the island near the capital, Roseau.
And now there’s another way to take an all-inclusive vacation in Dominica.
The InterContinental, set on a beautiful corner of the northwest of the island abutting Dominica’s famous Cabrits National Park, is now giving you the option of an all-inclusive stay.
And it’s a proper all-inclusive: think full menu access across all of the resort’s eateries and bars – focused on local ingredients — and unlimited access to an open bar. That means premium spirits, wine, and cocktails. And there’s also 24-hour room service, whether you just want an easy meal after a waterfall trip or you don’t want to leave the friendly confines of your suite.
It’s a major addition to a property that is one of the region’s great under-the-radar luxury hotels, one that has everything from four pools to a wide beach to an excellent wellness center. And yes, there’s a “rumfire” bar as well, where you can enjoy that extra rum punch on your all-inclusive plan as you watch the sun set over Dominica’s towering green hills.
The best part? The price, at about $600 for two guests, all-inclusive.
For more, visit the InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort and Spa.
Right now, you can book fares on American Airlines out of Miami to Dominica for about $399 roundtrip, according to prices from Google Flights — that’s as good as it’s been for quite a while.

The Caribbean has no shortage of beautiful beaches — but some resorts take it a step further, offering not just one stretch of sand but multiple shorelines to discover. These are the places where each day can feel different. One morning might be a quiet cove with calm turquoise water. The next, a longer, breezier […]
