Delays at several Canadian border entry points after a nationwide computer outage that sparked major traffic disruptions and closures in Western New York has mostly been cleared.
All I-190 exits, including north and south off-ramps to Niagara St., are now open in Buffalo. Officials are still urging drivers to plan ahead.
According to the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission, travel warnings have been lifted for Canada-bound commercial traffic at the Lewiston-Queenston International Bridge. The Peace Bridge has also reopened to all Canada-bound commercial carriers, the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority said.
Travel officals said Friday that they expect conditions to fully return to normal next week.
"While conditions have improved, active monitoring will be elevated throughout the weekend and into Monday in anticipation of the resumption of normal commercial traffic volumes next week," NFBC officials said in a statement.
A Canadian Border Services Agency computer outage for cargo systems occurred earlier this week. The CBSA says it was caused by wrongly entered data during routine maintenance on Sunday. In a statement, the CBSA says the outage has been fully resolved, though commercial drivers looking to cross the border might experience some delays.
