LABOR Day travelers risk encountering delays and cancelations at airports with storms and wet weather set to hit a popular region of the US.
Millions of Americans took to the air over the weekend and many more are set to take to the skies for the holiday.
More than 17 million Americans are expected to pass through security checkpoints at airports up until Wednesday, according to the Transportation Security Administration.
But, those in Florida have been warned that storms may hit.
And, the potential chaos comes just days after thunderstorms in the Dallas area grounded flights at Fort Worth and Love Field airports.
The likelihood of scattered showers and storms rises after 11am local time, according to forecasters.
On Friday, meteorologists warned that South Florida could see around four inches of rain over the weekend.
National Weather Service officials also warned about the chances of localized flooding.
Some areas could see between six and eight inches of rain.
There was also the risk of flash flooding, posing the risk to travelers.
Despite the risk of storms, temperatures are set to remain above 85F in the Miami-Dade County area.
The Labor Day weather comes as meteorologists continue to track the movement of Tropical Storm Kiko.
Officials at the US National Hurricane Center believe the storm could strengthen into a hurricane by Tuesday.
Delays have created some disruption at Fort Lauderdale and Miami airports, as reported by the Fox affiliate WSVN-TV.
Earlier this morning, there were 13 delays at Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
Miami and Orlando are among the top 10 domestic destinations for Labor Day travel.

Officials have warned the worst time travel by car on Labor Day is between 1pm and 4pm.
But, the best time to travel is before 12pm.

Travelers leaving Miami should arrive at the airport around three hours before their flights.
This is to allow plenty of time for parking, check-in, and the security process.
Americans are also encouraged to check in online and keep an eye on their flight status.

Scores of travelers were seen checking in for their flights at Los Angeles and Miami airports.
Some at LAX were caught trying to secure their over-filled suitcases.
Travel chaos hit some airports just as Labor Day weekend was getting underway.
More than 100 flights out of Dallas-Fort Worth airport were canceled, while over 200 were delayed on Friday, according to FlightAware data.
Flights to destinations including St. Louis, Detroit, and LaGuardia airport were impacted.
More than half of the flights leaving Fort Worth were impacted on Saturday, as reported by Forbes.
Around 11% of flights leaving the airport were canceled.
Scores of flights at Love Field were also delayed on Saturday.
