Heavy Rain Travel Advisory From Harlem To Hollis Reports The National Weather Service – Harlem World Magazine

The NYC Emergency Management Department has issued a travel advisory for Thursday, July 31st and Friday, August 1, 2025.
New Yorkers are advised to prepare for heavy rainfall and potential thunderstorms.

According to the National Weather Service forecast, more widespread heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are anticipated tomorrow afternoon and evening, extending into Friday afternoon. Peak rainfall rates up to 2 inches an hour will be possible. Heavy rain of 1.5 to 3 inches with higher localized amounts are forecasted. Storms tomorrow may cause widespread minor flooding across the city, along with localized instances of flash flooding, that may result in disruptions to travel and transportation, particularly during the evening commute.
Periods of heavy rain may cause flooding in the city, including highways, streets, and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage areas and low-lying spots. During periods of heavy rain, seek higher ground or, if in a basement, move to a higher floor. City agencies have taken action to clean catch basins and remove street litter in the event heavier rain occurs.
