London travel news LIVE: Drivers heading to Stansted Airport face major delays on the M11 – London Evening Standard

Drivers have faced major delays on the M11 this morning after two crashes near London Stansted Airport brought traffic to a standstill.
The motorway was blocked in both directions between Junction 8 (Stansted) and Junction 9, with emergency services and traffic officers called to the scene.
All lanes have since reopened, but National Highways warned of “very long delays” still affecting both directions.

Drivers faced major delays on the M11 this morning after two crashes near London Stansted Airport brought traffic to a standstill.
The motorway was blocked in both directions between Junction 8 (Stansted) and Junction 9, with emergency services and traffic officers called to the scene.
All lanes have since reopened, but National Highways warned of “very long delays” still affecting both directions.
Motorists travelling southbound faced queues of up to five miles, while congestion stretched for seven miles northbound. Travellers heading to the airport were urged to allow extra time.
A fault on a train between Walsall and Rugeley Trent Valley means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains will be cancelled, delayed or revised.
Disruption is expected until 10am.
You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following alternatives:
A speed restriction over defective track between Highbury & Islington and Canonbury means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Between Highbury & Islington and Crystal Palace / West Croydon, also between Clapham Junction / Richmond and Stratford
Following a fault on a train between Leeds and Wakefield Westgate all lines have reopened. As service recovers, trains may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.
Disruption is expected until 09:30am.
The Elizabeth line is now providing a good service.
A speed restriction over defective track between Highbury & Islington and Canonbury means fewer trains are able to run. As a result, trains may be cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Between Highbury & Islington and Crystal Palace / West Croydon, also between Clapham Junction / Richmond and Stratford
There are currently no serious disruptions on London’s roads.
A points failure at Haywards Heath means trains running through the station may be cancelled delayed or revised.
Disruption is expected until 9am.
Following a fault with the signalling system between Abbey Wood and London Paddington all lines have reopened. As service recovers, trains may still be cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until 9am.
