Maine Turnpike Authority says all lanes have reopened, but heavy delays remain in the area
The Maine Turnpike Authority is warning drivers to expect significant delays between Exit 63 in Gray and Exit 53 in Falmouth due to a crash that happened on the southbound side of Interstate 95.
An MTA travel alert issued shortly after 8:50 a.m. Tuesday stated the crash happened at Mile 63 on I-95 south in Gray, and that lanes were blocked on both sides of the highway due to debris.
Within 10 minutes of the alert being issued, officials said the right lane was open on both the northbound and southbound side of the interstate.
MTA traffic cameras showed a line of vehicles stuck in traffic southbound around 9:06 am.
Maine’s Total Coverage was stuck in that traffic and observed a Mini Cooper being towed away and a large truck rolled over on its side.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m., the MTA said all northbound lanes were back open while the left lane on I-95 south remained closed.
Officials announced at 1:05 p.m. that all southbound lanes had reopened, but noted that there were still heavy traffic delays in the area.
