Norse Atlantic Airways has decided to temporarily shut its Paris-New York route during the winter of 2025 due to a seasonal decline in transatlantic flight demands. The tactical decision comes while the flight carrier sets its sails to enhance its Southeast Asian operations. As an expansion venture, Norse Atlantic begins new direct flights to Thailand by tapping into the rising travel demands from the region. Paris/New York Service to Be Closed
Paris to New York service by Norse Atlantic, which previously served three times a week, had 1,014 weekly seats on offer. Even though these seats were available, the carrier has opted to end the service because of changing market conditions. As competition intensifies and demand patterns change, the closure of this service forms part of Norse’s overall approach to concentrate on more rewarding and growing markets. This aligns with the carrier’s bid to adjust to existing industry developments and enhance overall operational effectiveness.

The carrier has launched new direct service from Manchester Airport (MAN) to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK), and its maiden departure will take place on November 26, 2025. The flight will mark the very first-ever direct service from Manchester to Thailand and offer a valued new link between the U.K. and one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic destinations.

The new Bangkok-Manchester service will cater to both leisure and business travelers, providing a quicker and more convenient alternative to current indirect flights. The new direct service should stimulate tourism to Thailand and offer simpler travel from Thailand to the U.K. The new service forms part of Norse Atlantic’s overall approach to capitalize on rising travel to Southeast Asia, increasingly positioning itself as a major intercontinental travel center.

As one of its operational refinements, Norse Atlantic Airways has standardized its fleet by operating just Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The eight Boeing 787-9 aircraft flown by the current fleet of the airline are two-class configured and seat 338, 56 seats being premium economy and 282 seats being economy class seats. The step to one type aircraft is one of the measures that Norse takes to improve fleet efficiency and further simplify the operation.
Previously, Norse flew a blended Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 fleet type. The airline, however, has retired the smaller 787-8 variant, choosing instead to focus on the larger and more fuel-efficient 787-9 variant. This change enables the airline to achieve a standard service offering on its long-haul flights, such as its new Southeast Asia flights. The streamlined fleet further enables Norse to achieve operational flexibility while lowering maintenance and training expenses.
