Kahului Airport is located along the northern shore of Maui, and passengers can often enjoy beautiful mountain and coastal views departing and arriving at OGG. Once on the ground, the airport is accessible from Route 36, with the Lanui Circle looping around the parking lots in front of the terminal.
OGG’s main terminal is on the northeast side of the airport. All presecurity services and facilities are on 1 level, with baggage claim located at the north end and ticketing at the south end.
A separate commuter terminal is situated at the northernmost point of the ring road, operating flights for Mokulele Express, while all other airlines operate from the main terminal.
Level 1 has a covered, open-sided check-in area just off the terminal roadway. Curbside drop-off and pickup are available close to check-in. Passengers flying to the continental U.S. must clear an agriculture inspection before proceeding to the check-in counters.
The tram stop for access to the rental car center and the terminal parking lots are directly opposite the terminal. Passengers can walk across the pedestrian crossings to access these services.
Baggage claim is also on level 1, at the north end of the main terminal. Visitors have access to a selection of services and facilities, including a Starbucks, information desk, and ground transportation.
Read our guide on traveling to Maui and Kauai for information on beaches, attractions, accommodations, and transport.
Once passengers have checked in, they can proceed to the security checkpoint up the escalators at the northern end of check-in.
After security, there’s a central concourse area with restaurants and shops. To the right are 8 gates numbered 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15. There are only 2 restaurants down this gate area, with more options in the central area.
To the left of the central area, there are 12 gates numbered 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, and 39. There are a few shops and restaurants and a Premier Club Lounge opposite gate 17.
The commuter terminal is approximately 500 feet from the main terminal, serving interisland flights for Mokulele Airlines and Makani Kai Air. Apart from restrooms, this small terminal has very few facilities, so passengers can visit the Starbucks in the main terminal for a bite to eat before passing through security.
Dedicated short- and long-term parking is available outside the commuter terminal. Passengers can walk between the 2 terminals via the outdoor pedestrian walkways.
OGG is not a huge airport, and there are no buses or automated people movers to get around. Once inside the secure area of the main terminal, passengers can walk between all gates.
From the central area of the concourse, it’s a 6- to 10-minute walk to the furthest gates. There are no moving walkways, so any passengers with mobility issues should speak to their airline for assistance.
It takes a couple of minutes to walk to the commuter terminal from the baggage claim end of the main terminal.

OGG has 1 security checkpoint in the main terminal, which is open daily from 5 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
TSA PreCheck is available at the security checkpoint, open from 5 a.m. to 11.30 p.m.
If you have been approved, then you’re eligible to use these lanes for expedited security clearance.
Passengers can enroll for PreCheck through CLEAR Plus. This can be completed near the security checkpoint across from the check-in counters from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Global Entry processing is not located at OGG.
Mobile passport is not accepted at OGG.
OGG has CLEAR Plus lanes in the main terminal, available daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. This program requires enrollment and an interview for eye and fingertip scanning.
There are 2 Hawaiian Airlines Premier Clubs at OGG, located across from gates 15 and 17. The south lounge (near gate 15) is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and the north lounge (near gate 17) is open daily from 6 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.
Check out the best credit cards for airport lounge access and begin your trip in style without paying for a day pass.
Priority Pass members can access both Hawaiian Airlines Premier Clubs. You can get a complimentary Priority Pass membership as a benefit of several credit cards.
OGG has 10 restaurants, cafes, and fast-food counters, with the majority located in the central area of the departure concourse. Check out your dining options in advance on the airport’s website.
If you get to the airport too early to check in, there’s a Starbucks in the arrivals area of the main terminal.
Free Wi-Fi is available in the terminal, but it can be unreliable.
Computers with internet access (for $0.20 per minute) are also available on the second floor at these locations:
OGG’s lost and found process depends on where you lost your property. If you left an item on an airplane, you need to contact the relevant airline, or for items lost at TSA, contact 808-872-0235.
For items left in the terminal, such as at check-in, baggage claim, or parking facilities, contact 808-872-3421 or visit the lost and found office on the ground floor of the terminal outside baggage claim.
Information desks are located in the baggage claim area and the central area of the terminal. If the desks are not staffed, call 808-872-3893 for assistance.
There are no children’s play areas in OGG, so it’s not surprising that it doesn’t rank among the top kid-friendly U.S. airports.
There are no dedicated nursing rooms at OGG; however, passengers are advised to call 808-872-3830 for assistance in finding a private space if necessary.
OGG has 2 service animal relief areas. One is located outside the terminal, between check-in and baggage claim, and the other is opposite gate 23.
There are no indoor smoking areas at OGG (including electronic cigarettes). Smoking is only permitted in the parking lot.
OGG does not have a prayer room.
ATMs can be found at:
There are no foreign currency exchange services available at OGG.
Luggage storage is not available at OGG.
Ground transportation is available on level 1 outside the main terminal, with some additional services from outside the commuter terminal.
The Maui public bus has 2 routes that serve OGG, with bus stops outside the main terminal.
Ride-share platforms like Uber and Lyft operate from Kahului Airport. Passengers are picked up from the north end of the airport, between baggage claim and the rental car counters.
On-demand and prebooked shuttles are available from OGG to Honokawai, Ka’anapali, Kahana, Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Makena, Napili, and Wailea. Visit the SpeediShuttle counter in baggage claim or call 877- 242-5777.
Taxis are available from outside baggage claim at the main terminal and outside the commuter terminal. These are estimated fares for the following destinations:
Private transportation can be pre-arranged through these hotels, car rental agencies, and private shuttle companies.
Take Honoapiilani Highway (HI-30) south for about 16 miles. Turn right onto Kuihelani Highway (which becomes Dairy Road) and continue for roughly 6 miles. Cross Hana Highway, where the road becomes Keolani Place, and drive approximately 1.5 miles to reach the terminal facility.
Head northwest on South Kihei Road or Piilani Highway. Turn right onto Mokulele Highway toward Kahului (it becomes Puunene Avenue). At the intersection with Dairy Road, turn right. Cross Hana Highway, where the road becomes Keolani Place, and continue for about 1.5 miles to reach the terminal facility.
Short- and long-term parking is available in the large surface lot opposite the terminal. Passengers can walk between the parking lot and the terminal in just a few minutes via the pedestrian walkways that cross the terminal road.
There’s a small surface lot outside the commuter terminal that is available for prepaid parking only. These are the parking rates for both the main terminal and commuter terminal parking lots:
There is no parking or waiting permitted at the curb outside the airport terminal, so noncommercial drivers can use the cell phone lot when waiting for passengers. The cell phone lot is located at 901 Palapala Drive, Kahului, HI 96732, just a few minutes’ drive from the terminal. Alternatively, the first 15 minutes are free in the terminal parking lot.
Passengers can be dropped off curbside, outside the terminal.
OGG has accessible parking spaces located closest to the terminal that are available to placard holders.
808-871-0610
The rental car center is southwest of the main terminal, just beyond the surface parking lot. Passengers can ride the tram between the terminal and the rental car facility. The tram stop is across the pedestrian walkway on the other side of the terminal roadway.
