Ovation of the Seas – A Revitalized Family-Friendly Retreat
Ovation of the Seas, launched in 2016, will undergo a major renovation beginning in March 2026, with work taking place in Singapore. Known for its family-focused design, this 4,182-passenger ship will undergo a dramatic refresh, with an upgraded pool deck featuring private cabanas and a new whirlpool spa, offering guests more space to unwind and relax.
In addition to the revamped pool area, new dining and entertainment options will be introduced. Popular venues such as Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen and Izumi Teppanyaki will make their way to Ovation of the Seas, while the tiki-themed Pesky Parrot bar will bring a fun, laid-back vibe to the ship’s nightlife scene. A new venue, Sound Cellar, will provide a lively and immersive nightlife experience for guests.

For families, the introduction of the Ultimate Family Suite and Panoramic Suite will provide spacious, luxurious accommodations, perfect for groups or families seeking the ultimate cruising experience. After its dry dock, Ovation of the Seas will embark on Alaskan voyages beginning in spring 2026, offering a rejuvenated experience to travelers seeking adventure in the pristine wilderness.
Harmony of the Seas – A Fresh Caribbean Experience with an Exciting New Edge
Harmony of the Seas, with a capacity of 5,479 passengers, is among the largest cruise ships globally and is set to undergo a comprehensive renovation in early March 2026 at Navantia in Cadiz. This overhaul will bring a vibrant Caribbean-inspired atmosphere to the ship, featuring a reimagined pool deck and the addition of The Lime & Coconut bar, providing an ideal setting for guests to enjoy refreshing tropical drinks under the sun.
Additional updates will include a redesigned adults-only Solarium for those seeking tranquility away from the crowds, as well as the introduction of Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, offering guests a fun and casual place to unwind. Dining options will be expanded with the inclusion of El Loco Fresh for authentic Mexican fare and Samba Grill, a Brazilian steakhouse that will provide a unique dining experience.
To top it all off, Harmony of the Seas will feature the largest Casino Royale at sea, giving guests more entertainment options while sailing. After the dry dock, the ship will return to service with Mediterranean cruises departing from Barcelona in May 2026, before transitioning to the Caribbean for winter voyages from Port Canaveral.
Liberty of the Seas – A Bold New Chapter
Liberty of the Seas, one of the most seasoned vessels in Royal Caribbean’s fleet, is slated for a major renovation beginning in late April 2026 in Brest, France. Launched in 2007 with a capacity of 3,798 passengers, this ship was last refurbished in 2011. The upcoming upgrades will modernize the vessel, aligning it with the latest luxury cruising trends and providing an enhanced experience for today’s discerning travelers.
The ship’s pool deck will undergo a complete makeover, featuring brand-new cabanas and an upgraded The Lime & Coconut bar. Guests can also look forward to exciting new onboard experiences, including a Royal Escape Room offering an engaging, interactive challenge, along with the introduction of Izumi Teppanyaki for an authentic Japanese dining experience and delicious tacos from El Loco Fresh, perfect for a relaxed, casual meal.
A new Starbucks will also be added to the ship, offering passengers their favorite coffees and pastries while at sea. Following its refurbishment, Liberty of the Seas will sail from Southampton, offering UK-based guests a fresh and improved cruise experience starting in summer 2026.
Elevating the Royal Experience
Royal Caribbean’s commitment to innovation is evident in its continuous upgrades to its fleet. The changes to Ovation of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, and Liberty of the Seas reflect the company’s focus on enhancing the guest experience by adding more luxurious features, modern amenities, and exciting entertainment options. These updates are designed to cater to the evolving needs of today’s cruisers, ensuring every voyage is filled with unforgettable memories.
As these ships undergo their transformations in 2026, passengers can expect a renewed sense of luxury and excitement. With fresh dining concepts, enhanced relaxation spaces, and thrilling new activities, Royal Caribbean continues to set the standard for excellence in the cruise industry. Whether cruising in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, or Alaska, passengers will experience a new level of comfort and luxury at sea.
