If you're dreaming of travelling without breaking the bank, getting a good deal on flight tickets is a game-changer
To help you score those budget-friendly fares, a Malaysian traveller, Muhammad Dayan, shared his tips in a viral Facebook post to help you snag cheap flight tickets for your next adventure.
Here's what he shared based on his experience:
If you're flexible with your booking dates, aim to purchase your tickets on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. These two days tend to offer lower prices because most airlines refresh their booking systems by Tuesday at 7pm, Dayan revealed.
Airlines understand that most travellers check ticket prices on weekends, which can drive up demand and, consequently, prices. Statistics show that many people search for flights on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays, so booking midweek can help you avoid that price hike, he added.

Based on Dayan's experience, booking at least 21 days before your departure gives you the best chance of getting a good price.
Airlines typically set aside a limited number of cheaper seats for each flight, often for the first 20 or so passengers. As more people book, the prices gradually increase.
In short, airlines set prices based on the number of tickets sold and the revenue they want to achieve, so booking within this window can help you secure a bargain.

If possible, plan to fly on a Tuesday or Wednesday. These are considered "less busy" days both for airlines and airports.
You'll often find cheaper flights compared to Fridays or Sundays, which are among the most popular travel days.
Not only will your ticket be cheaper, but the airports will also be less crowded, making your travel experience more pleasant.

When booking international flights, timing is key. According to Dayan, airlines often release their best deals about 11 to 12 weeks before departure.
Keep an eye on prices during this period, as it can be the sweet spot for landing a cheaper flight. Regularly checking various flight search engines will ensure you don't miss out on any sudden price drops.

For example, if you're heading to London, don't automatically choose Heathrow.
Instead, look at landing in nearby airports like Manchester or Gatwick, which often have lower landing fees, leading to cheaper flights, he explained.
From there, you can take a train or budget flight to your final destination. This option is especially useful for long-haul international trips.

Did you know that airlines track how often you visit their websites? If you've been searching for flights on the same site over a span of days, you might notice that the price either stays the same or even goes up!
This is because cookies store your browsing data, letting the airline know you're interested in that particular flight.
To avoid this, clear your cookies regularly on your laptop, PC, and smartphone, or use incognito mode to prevent the booking system from hiking up prices.

Finally, never settle for the first price you see. Use multiple search engines to compare flight prices across various websites.
Sometimes, the same flight may be cheaper on a different platform. Dayan recommends using popular search engines like Skyscanner, CheapFlight, Momondo, Kayak, Google Flight, and Ita Software.
These sites often reveal hidden deals that aren't always available directly on the airline's website.
