Two crashes on Highway 97 caused traffic delays near Bend and La Pine at the start of the holiday weekend. One crash closed all southbound lanes in Bend, while another reduced northbound lanes near La Pine. Both incidents have been cleared and traffic is back to normal.
BEND, Ore.– Two crashes on U.S. Highway 97 caused traffic delays as travelers began the busy holiday weekend Friday.
One crash in Bend, at the intersection of the McKenzie–Bend Highway (U.S. 20), closed all southbound lanes. Drivers were detoured at Exit 136 while emergency crews cleared the scene.
Another crash just north of La Pine near Drafter Road reduced northbound lanes to a single lane, contributing to congestion in the area.
Both crashes have since been cleared, and traffic has returned to normal.
